- The Sceptre Povidone Iodine solution 10% is an aqueous solution of Povidone-Iodine

- This film-forming iodine complex, is virtually non-stinging and non-irritating to skin, wounds and mucous membrane

- It is non staining to skin and natural fabrics

- It is a multipurpose microbicidal, kills both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, particularly those encountered in skin infection such as Staphylococci, Streptococci. E. Coli, Proteus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa including those resistant to antibiotics.

- It acts rapidly and forms a uniform protective layer during pre-surgical application

- The microbicidal action of its also extends to fungi, viruses, protozoa and yeasts

- The microbicidal activity of this solution is also retained in the presence of blood, pus and serum

- Available in 500 ml bottle

- They come in a standard packing of 5 bottles per pack

- Administration:

- Apply full strength, as often as needed, as paint or wet soak

- Composition:

- Povidone Iodine IP: 10% w/v (Available Iodine: 1.0% w/v)

- Purified Water: qs

- Indication:

- Antiseptic preperation of skin and mucous membrane including vagina prior to surgery, injections and aspirations

- Post-operative disinfection of surgical wounds to prevent sepsis e.g. irrigation of surgical site in orthopaedic surgery, prophylactic painting of the umbilical stump in neonates

- Antiseptic treatment of superficial wounds and traumatic injuries including Lacerations, Abrasions. First, secong and third degree burns

- Topically to treat infections, e.g.: Eczemas, Athelete's foot and other mycotic infection oral thrush, vulvitis and topical infection associated with vaginitis

- For effective disinfection of water in bath and tanks to prevent cross infection especially in hydrotherapy. Patient bathing.

- Irrigation of body cavities to prevent and treat infection. Including: Peritonitis, Post-operative disinfection of the thoracic and peritoneal cavities
